bedhead

so i knitted in boulder the other day and they were suprised to see my hair was short. as you can see in the next post it was a bit of a shock and yes that is bedhead but its not much of a change for post workday. the damn headsets always make you look lik eyou slept in a tree. :)

hatty

as in batty. ya know crazy. did yo uever watch fern gully. love that cartoon movie thing. anyhoo you may remember that last year for christmas i made this for my older brother well i saw him this fall on one of his rare trips through denver. more about those in anoother post i promise. well he said he loved his hat perfect colors and everything. but it was too short well i think it was really long but who am i to say he does have a huge head and way too much hair. so i promised to make him another one longer this time. for christmas and then i promptly forgot. until i remembered. oh shit. so i was at dave's for the weekend and decided to go to shuttles. i have yet to venture to the denver yarn shops. no, i have noidea why. and picked up some bargain bin reynolds dover in brotherly colors. yes i know they kinda look like dog sick but he's a browny green kinda guy. a couple days later it was finished just in time to toss in the wash and get mailed out right before the ...

wascily wabbit

so i had this idea a few months ago to get one of my favorite books as a child for my favorite nephew. it really is a sweet story and when i saw that we had the book/audiobook combo at work. and we could get them at 50%. off well i just knew it was meant to be. and then i noticed that this little guy from handknit holidays looks more like a rabbit than a puppy to me. specially if you lengthen the ears just a smidge. i wasn't going to knit him with alchemy. not for a childs toy. sorry i'm just not made of money. and i considered cotton chenile since i've heard it doesn't worm as bad as its acrylic counterpart. but thats a little pricey for my budjet too. but i'm not a huge fan of all those craft store yarns and chenile has never been high on my list but how else do you make a velveteen rabbit (if you're not sewing of course) without using chenile. i opted for the next best option. and was reasonably pleased with the results. this does not of course knitt...

completed clogs

i was madly trying to finish a pair of unfelted (as of yet) clogs at a little get together the other night. and contrary to popular belief i was not being antisocial. i was on a mission ;) and mission completed. clogs gifted. still unfelted but we're working on that. heres a progress shot. yes i forgot to photograph the colmplted pair. like i said i was on a mission. anyhoo here they be :) details: pattern: fiber trends felted clogs in women's size 10 yarn: miscelaneous brown sheep bits (lamb's pride) duration: sept '06 - dec '06 (so i got a bad case of startitis they're done aren't they?) reciepient: 2 deat friends of moms and me

R.I.P

so i have to say goodbye to what may have been a good knit. but the yarn is just to soft. yeah go figure so the ziggy mittens i was going to suprise mom with for christmas are so be no more. please take amoment to reflect. it was a nice thought but its not gonna happen. its just not a sturdy enough fabric. so what am i gonna do with all those little strings of suri merino???

knitting progress

so i've been knitting. lots. but i have just gotten around to taking photos. terrible aren't i? there are previews (just a thumbnail or ten milion to whet your appetite. i'll do a slow unveil just to be evil :) heres the socks i've been carring to and from work with me. knitting on at cathi's and during the millions of reruns of csi . i have a problem but we won't go into that. yes. i watch them all even if i've seen them before. now hush. they're trekkiing (the socks that is) that pretty violet colorway and i'm loving 'em. love that yarn too. thanks sue for having it and tempting me. it took months for me to give in so i get props for that :) the pattern is falling leaves . you can't tell but i'm about 3 inches above the heel there. i'm going to try to use up the yarn. yes i know that will make for super tall socks but hwat else would i do with the leftovers???

halloween, yes i know its now december

get over it. so i never got around to posting a photo of my haloween costume... yes i was raggedy ann. and since i figured i'd have to wear my apron at work anyway i went with a green theme when i made the costume. so i guess it qualifies as a finised pbject or objects. i sewed the blooomers and smock. and i knit a teensy stocking cap. twisted the strands and strung them to make the wig. oodles of fun. even if i was "overdressed" aka not naked at the haloween party :)
so i read garfield, bc, and foxtrot every day on yahoo...and i just had to share i mean how much closer to home could any of these be?

photoless

so as dave pointed out to me today (over he phone) he still has my camera. so i can't share with you my fabulous funky scarf & assorted goodies...or my wonderful warm mittens. how much does tha tsuck? but i will share as soon as i can. just imagine the perfect things to keep me warm when i walked out to clean off the snow from the car this morning (it was 25 degrees out) brrrr!

exchanging

you all may have noticed that i joined quite a few exchanges this fall. i am happy to report that those mittens wee the last of the exchange knitting and the last ones to get posted. i'm done. the funky scarf is gone as is the ISE3 scarf. the mittens and 2 pair of sockwars socks have been mailed out. i'd be working on another partial pair of those if not for a bit of a postage/idiot knitter snag. but i've received notice that my socks are as good as on their way to me so i think i'm out. whew. and thank good ness it will soon be over. its a little nerve wracking worring about finishing with deadlines. i don't think i could ever knit with harsher deadlines than those of an exchange. my knitting is me time and thats the way its gonna stay for a while...well as soon as i catch up on my xmas knitting. but thats just 2.5 more pair of felted slippers and a stocking cap for my brother. no sweat. and i think i'm gonna have to cast on for a sweater or vest f...

FO report # 2 mitten swap mittens

i finished up and mailed off my pal's mittens yesterday. i had fun knitting them and hope they will be loved. :) the color looks a little funny (cell phone photo) they're kind of a blueberry violety color. hope that makes sense. anyhoo. they are on their way. the question is are they on the way to YOUR house? :) pattern: my own yarn: reynolds dover superwash wool completed: 10/12/06

FO report

i never got around to posting a final image of the ISE3 scarf. it is finished. it is off the blocking board. i'm not completely thrilled with the graft but hey it's mohair i wasn't going to be thrilled i just knew it! and a closeup of the lace pattern. i think the knitting turned out pretty well if i do say so myself :) pattern: branching out yarn: kidseta modifications: knit in two halves and grafted at the neck center. completed: september 22

pair # 2

so i received these in the mail from LEE aka the dancing crow. all the way from massachusetts. lemme see here they arrived on the 26th. that would have been tuesday. yeah thats right :) and these are going to david aka uzzie l tonight. i'm headed over to the post office now. whew. once again the pattern is the sock of doom fr sockwars. this time the yarn is elsabeth lavold silky wool. lee's choise. i'm happy for the opportunity to knit with it again. they are two tone cause lee thought there might not have been enought to knit 'em solid an di think she may have been right. time on needles i have no idea. i got 'em off the waste yarn and onto needles alsmosyt as soon as i got 'em on tuesday and knit when i had time. too many long shifts at starbucks. ok. i'm tired. but i refuse to have any more coffee. no more. you can't make me !!! changes: i knit the foot at a tighter gauge than was intended by the pattern. i think it will make a sungger fitting sock ...

sock warring along

see that? thats sock wars socks. what are they? finished! woo hoo! 9 hours of knittig baby and they went out by express mail this morning. i just hope that my assasin was not among those who got their dossier early. see yarn monkey was delayed in mailing out the patterns and intended target info by a hurricane. yup a hurricane. sheesh. it's like real war. almost. not really. actually not at all. cause who ever heard of killing someone with a pair of socks. really? and just so you know. if you are getting ready to go to the post office. the mailman will laugh at you. so be prepared :) pattern: sockwars pattern sock of doom yarn: brown sheep lambs pride superwash (worsted) modifications: i had to go up to worsted to get gauge (5.5 spi) it was supposed to be a pattern for dk but i just don't see it. that wouldn't make a solid pair of socks...oh and i didn't bind off and seam the toe as directed. eewww. kitchner all the way baby.

whew...

it happened. i got cocky. i knit and i knit and i knit an di didn't put in lifelines...fortunately i was able to rip back only one repeat on one half of the scarf ad salvage it. i have no idea how i got the stitches back on the needles. but i did it. whew. ok. back to knitting. 5 more repeats. on two sides. thats 50 rows each side. and i'm done. i can dot it! i think i can i think i can...unles the sock wars pattern gets posted and then the scarf goes on to stitch holders cause i'm gonna need those needles for socks!!! edit. i was waiting til the camera batteries charged to take a photo to post with the above and welll...i kinda got carried away knitting on my scarf. see first i realized how little yarn i had left. there wasnt even a whole pattern repeat there i just knew it. and before i knew it the edge was cast off. my needles lying off to the side ignored... the pattern useless i was done with it. the sock tote i've been using for a month to keep the scarf safe...e...

too much coffee

thats one of the problems with unlimited free coffee...you drink too much. and i have to get up early tomorrow and i'm so wired. and i'm playing around online. wanna see what i did??? you use a flickr toy to do this. its too much fun!!!

dog

she's been acting a little dejected lately more than a little upset about the move. and really not amused by my absences for work but all in all she seems to be adjusting even if she doesn't think she's getting enough love and not nearly enough food but we've been walking a lot which doesn't make up for the loss of her yard but at least there is a bunny to share to make it all ok :) and i just had to post these cause neige apparently has a twin . well not really but go check it out is really funny they could be sisters!

job

woo hoo. wlelo sort of i mean its not dream work. it's only starbucks. but it is work. and i get to have health insurance again, which can be useful. you don't know how hard its been being careful not to get sick or hurt (i'm a horrible klutz if you didn't ge tthat from the title here in gravity land) and they want me. which at least makes me feel useful for a change. you all know how it goes with job hunting. a million no's and then finally a yes. i mean it is a yes but its not a real job. no offense to all those fabulus barristas out there. i want a job where i have to think and sadly. memorizig coffee facts just doesn't do much for me....sigh sorry i'm not this grouchy, really. it's just frustrating hearingall those no's you know? hahhaha sorry its early. i'm dippy. but anyhoo. i start on monday. i have to learn how to use a headset. this store has a drive through. i'm concerned. i'm not horribly techosavvy when it c...

mittens!

i just wanted to invite anyone interested to join the mitten swap . i think we're going to have a lot of fun. but so far it's kind of a lonely group. sou you should join :) k. commercial over.

ISE3 update

repeated post from the ISE3 page forgiveness for my laziness :) i have reviewd my pal's questionnaire and i believe that some of my stash yarn is a perfect fit! who knew! i've read her blog, i've commented, i've emailed, and i am off. wanna see the progress so far? i'm knitting branching out. from knitty, but i decided i didn't like the lace being assymetrical so i'm knitting it in two pieces and i'll graft it later. (hence the icky grey yarn at the bottom) the yarn is a ball of annonymous purple mohair i found in my stash. i never knew what i was going to do with it before now. yippee! and i even think my pal will like this. at least i hope so :) i'm having a lot of fun but i've never knit lace (with laceweight yarn) before so i'm kind of scared. cross your fingers. i'm 3 repeats in so far i thought i'd do a couple more and put in a lifeline. adventurous yes. stupid. no :) edit: ok i'm officially having too much fun!!! 7 repeats...

funky scarf revisited

so remember the funky scarf? well i was informed that the photographs did not do it justice so i am here to post new ones. hope they give you a better idea. oh and theres some macro shots cause the fabric and stitches loooked so cool :)

and the winner is...

you know i want to send a prize to everyone but i can't see theres are only so many balls of yarn in the stash. and only a few i can bear to part with!!! quiet please while we announce the winner... the slip of paper was very scientifically chosen by my four footed assistant neige. the scraps were placed face down on the carpet and she chose one slip. i assure you there was peanut butter on only one piece of paper ;) Erin! i guess the pup liked your entry best. congratulations. please send me your mailing info and i will pop your prize into the mail.

finished socks

i'd like to report 2 completed pair of socks. daves socks are done. 72 hours on the needles thank you very much. he has them. they fit. he litkes them. but they pinch his toes...what??? socks stretch. they give and handknit socks mold to your feel. he is insane and we will leave it at that! oh and you'll have to believe me that they are done because once again i have gifted socks sans photographic proof. damn! shirleys socks are done. she loves them. they fit. they do not pinch her toes. they do however tickle. i have no idea what that means. but i will post photos tomorrow. its late, i'm sleepy and want to crash. but i will update tomorrow :) edit: so i know its not tomorrow but i sdo have sock photos for you :) so please be kind. i'm only a couple days late . someone was awfully interested in having hers and bunny's photographs taken. while i tried to ge tthe socks...sigh. who knew the dog is an attention hog and...she wants her toys in on the action! there. ...
