FO report, finally

so my neice finally sent photos of her fiber trends felted balet slippers that i made for her for christmas. they took forever to felt (cascade 220) but they came out really cute! and she painted the bottoms with puffy paint so she wouldn't break her neck on the wood floors. i think if i made these again i would double the bottoms as the felted clog pattern calls for they might not be quite so round if you did that.

chickens

so i may be counting my chickens before they're hatched as the saying goes. but i'm gonna try try try to sign up for sockapaloooza and i am dying to make some koolaid dyed socks . hopefully i get in and hopefully my future pal won't mind my advance decision. i'm crossing my fingers i'm really excited :) **edit** so i signed up wooo hoo my first exchange i'm sooo excited!

technical difficulties...

so i am sure i have mentioned before that some electronic appliance or another seemed to be malfunctioning...constantly...but i don't know if i ever explained the whole thing properly. this comes up because the computer is officially dead. i broke down and made dave call the tech support guys for me...they kept making me do destructive recoveries of the system ie everything goes bye bye and you have to reinstall everything :( and i was sick of it and after talking to the guy for about 20 minutes the guy decides that its the computer, not the owner thats broken. i've been trying to tell them this since september (i got the computer in august) but they never believe me. so anyway its being sent to the magic computer house in the sky where it will be given a new soul. and i'm sad because i have to use the ones on campus or at dave's like i am right now. which i'm surprised he's letting me use it as he i am sure believes i am cursed with all things electronic. see i

grr

well, i've been fighting with the formatting here in gravity land for several days and i'm ready to shoot out the computer monitor, not that it would change things but it would make me feel bettter you know. so anyway sorry for the fluctuating colors and location of everything and disappearing links etc. i think i'm almost done. i swear its almost over i hope :)

cast on

so i cast on for my mom's hooded sweater last friday and didn't get very far on it at the knit together. but it's coming right along. the pattern directions tell you to knit the pocket separately and sew it on, and you know my aversion to seaming so i just did it like the instructions for rogue tell you to just kit the pocket back and forth then pick up the stitches across the back to continue the body and its working just fine. i'm also knitting this in the round as opposed to knitting the front and back flat and seaming. like i said. major phobia. just hate those silly seams. anyway i'll keep you posted...but isn't this the most beautiful yarn? i picked it up at the estes park woolmarket last summer. it's interlacements memphis #112. cotton with a polyester binding thread wrapped around it that's rainbow varigated. nifty huh? anyway. i'm off to start studying. i figure 2 hours of knitting for the night is good enough whadda ya think? besides my lab

rogue completed

so i swear i already posted this photo here but apparently i oposted another photo twice this is what i get for trying to edit my blog when i'm tired. so here it is!

italy take two

oh and this is step two on getting ready for my trip. i like to take a blank book to draw, paint write and paste sugar packets into when i go on a trip. so while i was at 2 hands paperie in boulder today i picked up my blank book. i'm starting to get excited about this trip. its nifty drawing paper in there. in cream and tan and grey and blue and green and white its like strathmore paper or something. (to those of you who don't know thats kick ass drawing paper) and i'm gonna love using this book. the pen in there is the one i picked out today i hace a thing for fountain pens. i can't help it and this one is gorgeous. its silver and you can't tell but theres a silvery marbling to the black part. it will be so great to travel and write and sketch. yippee, i love going on trips. i might even have to use the pen early!

Italy take one

well its the first step towards going on my trip with mom this summer (italy with her) (then switzerland and germany by myself). i picked up the application at the post office, tracked down my old passport from the back of the closet, went to kinkos, got the silly photos taken and its ready to go once i write the check and pop it in the mail. and yes if you're wondering, thats rogue i'm wearing! cathi was nice enough to take a photo for me at the knit together at her house last friday night, i finished it there (and got a few dirty looks in the process) well maybe they weren't but there was definately some fo envy in the air :)

disaster averted.

so, i'm one ball in on each of the sleeves for rogue and i realized, that 3 balls per sleeve really wasn't gonna cut it. no friggin way so i'm at my favorite lys knitting (cause why sit home and knit when you can spend the day sitting at a sotre you don't work at helping customers ;) , and sue, angel that she is decides to call around to stores and see if anybody has the yarn. (mind you she works at the store i'm in, they don't carry mission falls though) isn't that sweet? and guess what she finds the same color the same dyelot at another not so favorite lys . and you wanna know the real kicker. they were nice! who knew it was even possible. but i have 3 more balls to finish my sleeves which should be plenty. oh, also a spare ball in a different dyelot that they insisted i take which i won't use but it will give me incentive to go back to get the new colorway i saw of sockotta there. i'm sure its not really new but i never saw it before and i

whew

didn't think i was gonna make it, but here i am! fully recovered and returned from texas. returned: the drive was awful, unberable and incredibly long, but i did not have to drug my neice and nephew, not did i kill them. the flight was ok, crazy lady talked my feverish head off (i'll get there in a sec) on the plane. crazy guy talked it off on the buss, but i got home in one piece. unfortunately the pipes weren't in the same condition when i got here...i'll explain later. recovered: from hideous texas cold bug. damn they say everything in texas is big well they don't brew small viruses i can tell you that! but i'm better now, no help from the stupid doctor lady who yelled at me for coming in when all i had was a cold and for wasting her time, i figure that a bug that hangs on more than a week, destroys my throat and voice, causes crazy high fevers, and results in my ears killing me, that i might actually be sick. but what do i know... but all is well, i&#
