so here was the initial cut for the stuff to pack for the trip. turns out i had to take out a couple books, a pair of jeans a sweater and a pair of shoes. it tidies up nicely in ziplocks though. a must if you're packing in a top loading backpack. that way its easy to get to the things in the bottom of the bag without refolding everything every single time :) and wonder of wonders. its all in the bag. and it only weighs 29 pounds. not too bad i don't think :) we leave tomorrow. the ipod is still not loaded with music. crap!

so i went to mommy knitting the other day...no there isn't anything i need to tell you it was an excuse to see people i hadn't in a while, namely jenifer and amy. good to see you guys. and jenifer had yarn she's been dying to give to amy. it matches her little guy's hangey fabric thing (what are those called anyway?) perfectly. i was supposed to email this, but i can't find your address jenifer :( anyway. it was good to see these two and make a new friend. the wife of one of my previous professor, and terrible person that i am, i can't remember her name. but we all know that i'm bad with names so no offense intended ok? i worked on the stripey socks that i stared a while ago but had put on hold for the italy cardi. i think i'm a stripe or tow past this now, but i don't have a recent photo. fun to knit not all that interesting, but fun nonetheless!

the dryer is functional, and my clothes are intact. the window to the rodeo works. and they handed me a brand new ipod to replace the dead one! so today is not so bad after all :) oh and when the chinese place forgot my wontons and i had to go back to get them i got free dumplings. score!

otherwise known as technical difficulties. well i was at knitting last night and i was talking to erica and she thought i should blog about all the bad luck we've been having around here lately. and i laughed it off and figured why would anyone want to hear about that...i mean hell its only a dryer right? whats the big deal, so mom and the cousin who is in from out of town can't get dressed on the morning of graduation cause their clothes are soggy. whats the big deal? not to mention i should now be packing for our trip but i could just go to the laundromat, oh, right the car's in the shop...why? well the window is busted, and having had things stolen out of a locked closed window car before i'm only a little squeamish. how did it break well...i mean my car window only jammed on the way to graduation last week. 20,000 people on campus i'm running late due to the dryer, and the car window dies and i have to leave it parked on campus with the window down? fort

there are several finished objects to report! first and foremost, dave and i graduated last friday. technically dave has to write and defend his thesis this summer, but i think he can do it. and i told you i'd post photos. here's the token funny hat and dress photo. me, dave's dad, and dave. dave got a cooler hat than i did, i guess thats what happens with a phd :) i've also got a couple FO's to report! here are my cousin's watermelon slippers :) i posted a finished unfelted photo the othe rday, but here they are, all felted and ready to wear. my cousin said she was going to wear them home on the plane! pattern: fiber trends felted clogs, yarn: cascade 220 with a touch of leftover loft for the seeds. changes: body and inner sole red, outer sole green, stitched on seeds before felting

but certainly not least, the italy cardi, its on the blocking board so i guess techically its not finished but it's damn close, it needs to dry and it needs buttons. but then its done. i've even done the finishing. really. me who hates finishing! woo hoo. not to get that bad penny done... pattern: none lace: something out of voge stitchionary yarn: elsabeth lavold silky wool

sooo, its update time again! here we go! heres the italy cardi with the buttons laid out on top for scale and here is the completed button band, i will sew on buttons after i block this sucker and here is a closeup of those gorgeous buttons. they are perfect i love them! all that is left is to do those 3/4 sleeves and its wearable! so the mailman came today! it was a good day. theres interweave, and a graduation card from my sister, and a graduation present from my mom's dear friends, and seethat up at the tippy top of the pile, thats my sockpaloooza socks! my sockpal is karen of crazy basket lady see heres neige checking out my socks all wrapped up. karen is from san diego see :) here is me wearing the perfectly fit socks! so my sockpal got her socks today. i have a new respect for the ups store i just mailed those puppie sout monday morning. wow! my sockpal was patty. in connecticut. and she told me in an email this morning that she loves the socks. score! and now i can tell you all that when the exchange first started i had about 4 inches done on the socks and there was an update on the blue blog saying what sock people were kitting, and i almost died. because the photo patty had posted for the socks she was going to make for her pal were almost the same socks i was making. similar colors and pattern. too funny huh. i went ahead and made them though cause well...you knit what you like right? anyway. i just had to share. it has been a ton of fun knitting for patty and waiting for her to receive the package. its kinda sad its all over now :( except i haven't seen my socks yet so i'm still excited about that :) oh and believe it or not with all i have to get done before i leave for i

it would appear we have a chicken foot out of the shell :) sorry thats terrible and makes noooooo sense. i'm just too excited to speak clearly. remember that terrifying phone interview i was talking about last week. well i expected to hear back by thursday at the latest. but i had a call first thing this morning. they want me to come back in for phase two! yippeeeeeeee. can you believe it? i mean i can, because i know i'm wonderful. but they don't yet. yeay!!!! i'm in the top 3. keep your fingers crossed. cause i mean it would be really wonderful if i didn't have to keep looking for a job before and after my trip. imagine it could just be waiting for me to come back :)))))) eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee squeaky yelling and jumping up and down is about to ensue! oh and another thing. i mailed off my sockpaloooza socks this morning. they are happily on their way. whoopee! and school is almost over. omg i'm gonna split in two :)
