penny bank

i've been knitting like a fiend, and my bad penny is comming right along. as you can see above, i've finished the increases, put the sleeves on stitch holders, and i've started on the body. i still have to finish the ribbing on the sleeves and neck. but its working up really fast! i think you can also see that my piggy bank has been eyeing it. i haven't fed her pennies since i was a little kid. now she just sits on my desk and watches me knit. i think she's hungry, my sweater may be in danger. i'll have to make sure to put it away safely!

knitting nite

well we had fun knitting at cynthia's house lasst night. fun had by all 3 of us a small but good group. the snacks were great the knitting was good and the view was fantastic! i have to get an apartment! anyway. still knitting along on my bad penny and hope to finish the increases today. fingers crossed!

bowl of cherries

well my mom picked me up form work on wednesday evening and we were off on our mini vacation! we trekked across the state to grand junction and went to sleep early so that we could get up early to hit the fruit stands and vineyards in palisade. i lust love fresh produce. and visiting the tasting room at at winery at 10 am is definately an experience! we visited debeque canyon , plum creek , and the grande river vineyards . we picked up several bottles of our favorite wines, as well as some fantastic fresh cherries. these are the only ones who made it all the way home! they were too good to leave them til we got home!

flattop mountain drive

after leaving palisade we headed north towards meeker, co where we took a twisty dirt road across the mountains to yampa. the drive was gorgeous but the road was a little bumpy at times. did i mention the drive was gorgeous? there were wild flowers and the trees were so green from all the rain we have had. the mountains were wrapped up in clouds. and it kept trying to rain on us. it was a wonderful trip.

bad penny - grand lake

finally we decided to stop for the night at the grand lake lodge in grand lake, co. well not in the lake, above the lake, in the town...nevermind. if you ever get the chance, go. the cabins are so cute. my mom and i slept in twin beds for the first time in who knows how long. there is a wide front porch with swings and you could just sit for hours looking out at the lake. its a beautiful little place that somehow reminds me of the resort from dirty dancing. no, no, there was no dancing, and patrick swayze was nowhere to be found. but i did get to sit on a swing on the front porh and work on bad penny. and despite staring out at the view i accomplished quite a bit. i reknit up to the error i made the day before and ended up with about 4 inches of completed knitting before it was too cold to sit outside any longer. can you imagine, i needed a sweater in june! how much better could it get? a fabulous view and knitting! i'm tempted to move to the mountains for the rest of the summer!

casting on road trip

well i'm headed out on a car trip to western colorado with my mom this "weekend" (when work schedules you to work on the actual weekend and gives you other days off you just go with it right? just makes it confusing when you talk to the rest of the world.) anyway... headed up around abouts of steamboat. theres supposed to be a pretty drive between meeker and yampa apparently. who would have known? and maybe it will be a bit cooler too. i've heard the wildflowers are gorgeous right now. maybe i'll be able to take some good photos. and since i'll be stuck in the car for hours i'm planning to cast on for bad penny with my peachy caramia see stash below and maybe i'll cast on honeymoon as well. i think it would be pretty in the candy blue cottonease i picked up at the insanely marked down clearance at joann the other day. i love clearance yarn. you feel like you could buy the whole store sometimes :)

knitover

well we had oodles of fun at our knitover last night. thanks again michelle for having us! it was a lot of fun. maybe next time we sit down and knit i'll have something to show for it! (i knit a couple inches of tempting and hated the way it looked so i ripped it all out. i'll have to get smaller needles and try it out again) then, today we all drove up to estes park, co. for their annual woolmarket . there were so many beautiful yarns that even with all the time and money in the world i could never knit it all. i did find one treasure for my mom. some interlacements cotton poly bulky stuff called memphis with a crummy number name. why do they do that? and i'll be using it to make a hooded pockety sweatershirty thing that she found a pattern for. also yesterday i had a bit of a yarn binge at the clearance sale at joann fabrics. lets just say i obtained the yarn to make 6+ sweaters, tops, or tanks. cotton ease and cara mia fun multipurpose summer/spring yarn with yarn phot

almost done

well i've almost finished the sleeves for my mom's boatneck sweater. i just want to check to see that they are long enough then its 8 more rows, bind off, and finished. so exciting. but i think i'll have to get an elf to finish it for me. i hate that part. who wants to sew up seams. so boring. and i've decided that i absolutely must remake the handles for the felted bag i finished back in january. i washed them without the seam binding in and they stretched out! oops. must remember to read the instructions before felting anything in the future... so anyway i'm reknitting those and maybe then i'll have that bag finished finally. the question is what to cast on next? there's the seed stich shell from this summer's vogue...or the ribbed tank from interweave...or i could pick up another set of needles and make tempting ...decisions decisions. what will i make? i have to figure it out though. i need something to work on at our all night knitting bash this wee

finito - rag bag

yippee i finished lining my rag bag. i ripped out and remade the flap, it was triangular before. much better now. i i also sewed a little coin purse to match the lining. fun! fun! fun! i love finishing things! watch out boatneck sweater here i come! oh and i figured out how to include a gallery of finished projects. i'm learning. thanks ewald for all the help. much appreciated. soon to come: digital photography gallery.

why did i do this??? thats what i would like to know. i've been fighting this computer all day trying to format this page. because as with all things i decide to take on, especially things i don't really have time for, i obsess. so if anyone happens to know how you nest one blog inside another blog in blogger . please let me know. i've been trying to follow the instructions in the help section all day and i just don't get it. maybe if it were knitting instructions i could figure it out :P

il projetto finito - finished project - clapotis

several weeks ago i finished up my clapotis and i love it especially since i finally wove in the ends and got it blocked. it is made from grignasco top print in purple haze and it is 100% alpaca and sooo soft! can't wait for cold weather to wear this baby.
