bedhead

so i knitted in boulder the other day and they were suprised to see my hair was short. as you can see in the next post it was a bit of a shock and yes that is bedhead but its not much of a change for post workday. the damn headsets always make you look lik eyou slept in a tree. :)

hatty

as in batty. ya know crazy. did yo uever watch fern gully. love that cartoon movie thing. anyhoo you may remember that last year for christmas i made this for my older brother well i saw him this fall on one of his rare trips through denver. more about those in anoother post i promise. well he said he loved his hat perfect colors and everything. but it was too short well i think it was really long but who am i to say he does have a huge head and way too much hair. so i promised to make him another one longer this time. for christmas and then i promptly forgot. until i remembered. oh shit. so i was at dave's for the weekend and decided to go to shuttles. i have yet to venture to the denver yarn shops. no, i have noidea why. and picked up some bargain bin reynolds dover in brotherly colors. yes i know they kinda look like dog sick but he's a browny green kinda guy. a couple days later it was finished just in time to toss in the wash and get mailed out right before the

wascily wabbit

so i had this idea a few months ago to get one of my favorite books as a child for my favorite nephew. it really is a sweet story and when i saw that we had the book/audiobook combo at work. and we could get them at 50%. off well i just knew it was meant to be. and then i noticed that this little guy from handknit holidays looks more like a rabbit than a puppy to me. specially if you lengthen the ears just a smidge. i wasn't going to knit him with alchemy. not for a childs toy. sorry i'm just not made of money. and i considered cotton chenile since i've heard it doesn't worm as bad as its acrylic counterpart. but thats a little pricey for my budjet too. but i'm not a huge fan of all those craft store yarns and chenile has never been high on my list but how else do you make a velveteen rabbit (if you're not sewing of course) without using chenile. i opted for the next best option. and was reasonably pleased with the results. this does not of course knitt

completed clogs

i was madly trying to finish a pair of unfelted (as of yet) clogs at a little get together the other night. and contrary to popular belief i was not being antisocial. i was on a mission ;) and mission completed. clogs gifted. still unfelted but we're working on that. heres a progress shot. yes i forgot to photograph the colmplted pair. like i said i was on a mission. anyhoo here they be :) details: pattern: fiber trends felted clogs in women's size 10 yarn: miscelaneous brown sheep bits (lamb's pride) duration: sept '06 - dec '06 (so i got a bad case of startitis they're done aren't they?) reciepient: 2 deat friends of moms and me

R.I.P

so i have to say goodbye to what may have been a good knit. but the yarn is just to soft. yeah go figure so the ziggy mittens i was going to suprise mom with for christmas are so be no more. please take amoment to reflect. it was a nice thought but its not gonna happen. its just not a sturdy enough fabric. so what am i gonna do with all those little strings of suri merino???

knitting progress

so i've been knitting. lots. but i have just gotten around to taking photos. terrible aren't i? there are previews (just a thumbnail or ten milion to whet your appetite. i'll do a slow unveil just to be evil :) heres the socks i've been carring to and from work with me. knitting on at cathi's and during the millions of reruns of csi . i have a problem but we won't go into that. yes. i watch them all even if i've seen them before. now hush. they're trekkiing (the socks that is) that pretty violet colorway and i'm loving 'em. love that yarn too. thanks sue for having it and tempting me. it took months for me to give in so i get props for that :) the pattern is falling leaves . you can't tell but i'm about 3 inches above the heel there. i'm going to try to use up the yarn. yes i know that will make for super tall socks but hwat else would i do with the leftovers???

halloween, yes i know its now december

get over it. so i never got around to posting a photo of my haloween costume... yes i was raggedy ann. and since i figured i'd have to wear my apron at work anyway i went with a green theme when i made the costume. so i guess it qualifies as a finised pbject or objects. i sewed the blooomers and smock. and i knit a teensy stocking cap. twisted the strands and strung them to make the wig. oodles of fun. even if i was "overdressed" aka not naked at the haloween party :)
