:)

so i know karma is supposed to be like you do something bad and something bad happens to you. but what about reverse karma? i mean so remember that whole bad day earlier this month what if that was just so i could have a realy good day today??? i was just wondering...

goodies!

so i told you shirley and i are a bit codependant in that when i want to buy yarn she has to buy yarn too? well guess what came in the pail today? 57 balls of reynolds dover superwash wool! and its almost as soft as my 1824!!! look at this i got the teal: and its really not the same color as my rogue it just looks like it. this is a much darker richer bluey green than rogue. and she got the pewter and i got the purple and denim and she got the navy and camel! isn't the mail wonderful???

goodies 2

and not only did i get yarn in the mail today, i got these other goodies too! see i also got the new vogue knitting, 5 new cds, and a letter from financial aid telling me i get to stay in school!!! wow! all that good stuff in one day! and on top of that, i think i just got paid back for all that bad karma what got dumped on me the other day. you know what i'm talking about ;)
so i had to post this cause i got to the arm holes, and i'm ready to work on the back. but i can't cause i have work to do bu ti had to take aphoto! and i have to stop knitting and checking my email and taking photos cause i have to study!

so i had to do this

You are pink aluminum. Retro, straight forward and fun, you love classic things. If they're 99 cents at Goodwill all the better! You are moved by striking colors and tasty morsels, and you like a stitch-n-bitch session in the sun. Just remember, while you're being kitschy cool, don't get too cold. Ice cubes are best kept in your cocktails, baby! and it's funny cause i love my aluminum needles. they're practically all i use :) what kind of knitting needles are you?

rogue'n along

well, i only had one class today, and since i don't have my textbooks yet and don't really want to start studying yet...i came home and knitted. and knitted. and knitted. and i'm gonna knit some more. but i was at a stopping point - three balls in do you think i have enough yarn??? 18 balls its the right yardage but i always panick at this point! - anyway. here it is! the first chart is completed and i've started on the second chart. btw i think this is closer to the actual color than the last photo i posted. kinda greeney blue teal, but dusty. anyway. they call it cornflower...but isn't that supposed to be kinda periwinkle. k. really i'm gonna go knit now.

school

well its officially begun. i'm here and all hell has oficially broken loose. my current classes include: plasma physics , quantum mechanics 2, optics, observational astronomy 2 - spectroscopy ...yes i am insane. i realize this. i was going to drop one of the hard ones and just take a geology class to be full time. i can't imagine why, but they want you to take 12 hours to give you financial aid. if i even get financial aid this term...i'm over 180 credit hours due to transferring twice and changing my major i don't know how many times. oh and i'm a double major, so you can see i have an excuse. hopefully they buy it...but if they don't give me money...well i guess i'll have more time to knit. madness! but anyway. i sat in on both classes today and yesterday to try to decide between optics and plasma, and they both sound so neat that i'm just gonna try to kill myself this term and take both. shirley is in both quantum and plasma. so maybe between the 2 of

wierd

so i'm back at school and i'm walking around and i'm wondering. how is everybody else so young. and i'm thinking hell am i really this old. and at the same time i'm thinking get the fuck out of my way you damn freshman! oh wait that part was out loud...anyway. thats it. school's on.

pocketsssss

what has it got in its pocketsss? nothing silly. theres no back to it yet. but soon yes very soon! the hem is turned, the pocket stitched, cables growing on the sides. what is it ? sorry i am in a silly mood. back to knitting!

mmmm. yarn.

well i gave in. and the yarn family just got larger...you see, there's reynolds dover on sale at herrschner's and i gave in. but who wouldn't at $2.67 a ball! i wish i had gotten this before i started rogue oh well. i think it wan'ts to be cardigan. a long chunky one with big pockets and cuffs. "how do you know?" you ask. well it told me of course!!!! i'm so excited! and shirley is too! you see i called her and asked if she wanted some! i hate spending money alone! aren't i a good friend?

knitting and berry picking!

so natalya and i went berry picking today... oh my god they are so good. justso you realize the quantity thats like a gallon of fresh strawberries. i'm sure natalya picked just as many. but she ate about half while she was picking :) so we picked and we ate. and we knitted! and now i have to mow the lawn but i had to share! well not really... you can look but they're mine all mine!!!

i think i can i think i can

well i cast on for rogue. and i'm doing ok so far. i swatched the turned hem with some waste yarn and was able to figure it out so thats a start. and i decided not to do the twisted stockinette stitch for the hem. i talked with the lady down at lys and we agreed it makes the fabric on the hem twisty too. adn she couldn't think of a good reason to do it that way, so i just did a regualr stockinette hem i'm 4 rows in to the chart and no disasters so far so i'll just keep my fingers crossed. anyway. don't you just love this color?

F.O.

here's the long overdue f.o. photo of bad penny. the sweater came out a little big and is stretching out a bit. but the yarn is so soft that i think i can deal!

hallo, i'm back :)

i know i wasn't really gone anywhere. but i certainly wasn't in a knitting kinda mindset. thinking about boys. silly me! what was i thinking! nothing but a distraction. a good distraction as some are easy on the eyes. uh oh here i go again. can you tell i was a bit boy crazy when i was younger? really i've grown out of it! honest. but i'm knitting again! i promise. i picked up the needles last night when i got home from seeing chocolate and the charlie factory...vodka helps. i reccomend sneaking some in if you haven't seen it, if you have go back. makes for an interesting experience. but anyway i knitted, and i'm hooked again! i'm trying to finish up my OSW. it should be a matter of hours now...of course i always underestimate these things. but i pulled on one arm and it fits so far, so that's a start. second sleeve and ribbing is all i have to go :) i'm getting excited! and i have to finish my mom's boatneck sweater. no its not done yet can you

soooo not a ho....

hmm. never saying ho hum again afeter this...i think that last post was bad luck. so. have to share this cause this creeped the hell outta me...a few days ago i got bored posted an ad on craigslist. libby saw the post, very briefly i had it linked here with a few of the responses. decided if i liked any of the guys and wanted to see any of em again it might not be a good idea so i junked it. anyway. there were some pretty bad ones. (i'll recopy them here later for your entertainment) but a few were ok. and i met up with a few really cool people. don't know if we'll date but i've definately made a few friends. so anywho, yesterday i had planned to meet up with someone else. new guy. he seemed a reasonable enough guy and i figure meeting in a very public place, louisville summer streetfaire would be safe enough right? well i get there and say hello to guy. guy is nice enough says hello. we talk we go to the OLI for a beer i order a beer and drink it slowly

ho hum

i haven't picked up needles in a couple days i just don't want to, working too much maybe, i think i'm just tired i dunno. it freaked me out theough, i have these unfinished projects and for a minute today i wondered if i was over knitting, but i think its just a phase, i'll be happy to knit once i get 5 minutes free time. maybe tomorrow? i dunno. maybe its not just knitting but more of a general melancholy. i need to get out of town. maybe drive to the mountains tomorrow. jump in a lake or something. rinse off the brain funk. hmmm

woo hoo!

i have finished grading the last assignment of the summer semester. woo hoo! i'm free. well almost, i still have to grade the final but its almost over! the material was interesting but the kid's were annoying. i will never have to read one more comment on an assignment that the question sucks, but they guess they will answer it anyway. like the professor will ever see their whining. ugh. tantrum over. i am working on my osw again. i pulled it out yesterday. the way the designer has the increases done they're not symmetrical which was making me crazy. so i figured out a way to make the left and right side look the same. yeay. i'm trying ot finish it to wear on friday to knit night at cynthia's we shall see if i make it! since i don't have yarn to work on rogue i should have plenty of time!

:(

swatching was bad, first yarn knits up too small, tantrum, gone shopping, found new yarn , too expensive, must order online, found yarn, email me with prices please, want to order, want to knit rogue, super soft lovely yarn, want to have it now. :(

gone rogue

welli haven't officialy cast on yet. but i am definately thinking about it really hard! i'll probably cast on when i get to the lys today. but i did join the rogue kal with the mhc knit group. thanks for the invite michelle. this is how i will survive the experience: begging for help daily when i get stuck. its gonna be a scary knit for me! but maybe i can do it.

switchy swatchy

well it is officially the first of august, and i am swatching...and i think my worsted is more of a light worsted and i'm gonna have to either get a different yarn, or double up to get gauge for rogue. blah! i may be ordering more. but what the heck is this color??? its either lichen, prarie sage or colorado range! i got it from the bargain bins at brown sheep in nebraska at the beginning of the summer, and ta da! no labels. no telling what color it is. but its pretty and i like it! see my stash at the bottom of the page. time to make a trip to lys to compare with color cards...wish me luck. oh, i guess had better wait un morning. they might not appreciate a midnight visit! wait, nevermind. i think i can make it work...i'll have to knit on 7's which i don 't want to do, but maybe it will be ok. get me used to knitting more open fabrics. see i hate knitting loosey goosey stuff. i'm not a tight knitter. i just don'tlike the way loose knit looks.
