so i just had to send an update. here are the finished sock totes. one (left) is a bit taller to accomodate 2 balls for 2 at once sock knitting. the other is perfect for the second sock when you're down to next to no yarn! all from 2 flat quarters and half a spool of ribbon! too much fun. i'll be looking around for other fantastic fabric. i'd like to send a sock tote to my sockpal. see there's her sock hiding in tote # 1.

ok ok i'll do it too!

well some of the ladies have been on about running lately. and although i refuse to go out and buy shoes and run outdoors. i am willing to do so indoors. with the roper equipment...see i hate running. but i've gained back the weigt i was able to lose a while back so i should be doing something. so i've decided i could actually use the elliptical machine in my living room. huh go figure. its really not just there to take up space! so yesterday i hopped up there and was able to run ha;f a mile before i collapsed. no not relaly. but the funny pain in my shoulder was bugging me enough to get off the damn machine. funny pain you ask. well see i went snowboarding with dave (who has also gotten on the running bandwagon) on sunday and i fell on my head. hard. and i fell flat on my back. and my neck has been bugging me like after a fender bender (but thats mostly gone now) but i have this sharp pain just below my left shoulder blade. but anyway. no i don't thin

bad penny 2

and i promised updates on the bad penny i started for our trip here it is just to the armpits (isn't that a terrible word?) i had taken it off the needles to see if it would be big enough and here it is 2 balls in to the process...i think i'm almost reay to start the ribbing. this one i'd like to have really tall ribing so that it won't seem to hang so much. no fear of that i'm afraid it might even be too small. i haven't gotten the courage to try it on though. i'll post photos of the skirt i'm making this to go with tomorrow :)

sewing for spring break

mom and i took a shopping trip to joann this weekend and we got lopts of fabric for me to make bags out of! i got some to make a little bag to carry in progress socks and some for a tote for my mom for our trip. the stripes are for the outside and the floral is for the lining. both bags will be large (we need to carry maps, cameras, etc.) they will be rectangular, zip to dissuade pickpockets, have compartments and hang across the body from one shoulder, with super wide straps to avoid sore shoulders. i can't wait to start these!

school! blah :(

wow, so get this. i just turned in a regular assignment for quantum. we have our second midterm tomorrow night for quantum also. the exam covers through monday's lecture... i have the midterm for my data analysis class on friday in class (that one covers 2 entire textbooks and all the lectures thus far on error analysis etc.), and we (lab partners and i) just found out that the proposal for our final project in optics is due friday too! oh did i mention my third lab partner is A.W.O.L. and has yet to helpp us figure out what to do to write up this proposal...FUCK! sorry if that offends but omg. stress overload. anyway i just had to vent. i'm planning to knit at the boulder SnB tonight at amante and look at flash cards while i work on bad penny. knitting breaks will include running through old assignments on time dependant perturbation theory and the golden rule. don't know what that is? well neither do i really. photos next week i swear. i'm also cranking
and a last farewell...before i ripped out sunrise circle i took a parting photo...this sweater was jus tnot meant to be. too many other things wanted to be finished first. soon to come the bad penny 2 that i'm making for my trip to italy!
i guess march should be the month of the second half! not only did i finish shirley's mittens, i've been working on mom's slippers. the first one has been finished for ages just waiting to be a pair. they are done now, i just have to felt them! here's a teaser :) mom left a note when she saw them..."grandmother what big feet you have...the better to step on you my dear!" i mean yes they are big i had to knit the largest size, and we all know how big unfeltedslippers are! what a nut! she can't wait til these are felted and ready to wear!
i know i've been a.w.o.l. lately..but i've been busy. see i've been working on finishing shirley's mitten/glove thingeys! here they are with the top buttoned back! and here is a closeup of the botton! i think i found the perfect ones!

gauge? bah! not needed...

yeah right...so i was knitting right along on sunrise circle jacket. the back is essentially done and i heard that it helps to knit the front first and adjust the back to fit you...so i decide hey i can do this so i knit the sleeve and part of the front and ...its too big. like 5 extra inches of sleeve too big. back to the drawing board. i've been drawing the pattern out on graph paper to copy over to my gauge graph paper and it seems like it should work...if i'd only done this at first...oh well. so ripping out of an almost whole sweater front and sleeve to follow this evening :( photos to follow

knitalong

so i've decided to join the sunrise circle knitalong . i know i know...do i really have time for this? but i've been dying for a new project. and i love this color its great isn't it? check it out i was so excited to start something new that i knit a whole ball last night. i knit the hem. 10 more rows and hemmed it right up! i decided i'd prefer a picot edge. i thought it would be fun to have it running clear around the collar and that button band you know? but look at this...i have never had yarn do this to me! its not even a handpaint! grrr. since it's in balls instead of hanks i'll have to wait for the finished product to give it a bath! oh well...i'll just look like i have a disease...maybe i can freak out the ocd germophobe in my quantum class :) oh and get this. my class is cancled today so i'm gonna knit all day long! wooo hooo!

blah!

soi everything is ripped back even further now...and i don't even wanna try to fix things anymore! i need something new to knit! i think i'm going to make the sunrise circle jacket from IK. i have some yarn already...technically its way too much yarn for this sweater but i have no idea what else to make with it. i've been wracking my brain trying to decide what to use it for and haven't come up with anything...so i guess i'd just have a little (600-800) extra yards...damn yarn sales!!! it should get gauge with a nice solid fabric just like i like. not all holey! the yarn is reynold's dover in a jadey green color. i think i have a photo on the old computer i just have to transfer the files...i'll post it. but anyway i'm gonna go swatch and watch the firefly dvds...again. and knit :) oh wait before i go...i'm not sure what size to make...this isn't something i want to turn out huge so...hell i dunno i'm just so bad about making sweaters too big
