hello

so i'm madly knitting on my mom's hooded pullover i don't know why...she can't wear it until fall anyway...and i'm avoiding dave's socks for now. i'm not really sure why but i am happy to report that the in progress sock fits. (he tried them on with his eyes closed...he wants to be surprised) i have yet to take photos of my estes yarn. or my germany yarn. but i am stil working on posting trip photos on the trip blog. i apologize for my tardiness, my efforts were put on hold last week. qwest sucks. our internet was out for most of the week. if yours was out too. make sure to record the days and times call and holler at the m and they will refund the missed time. trust me it adds up! in other news i am attempting to find work. i'm signing up with temp agencies. realizing i should have pursued a different degree cause what i'd like to do now i'll have to study a lot to get into. and wishing i had about 10 more brains to deal with all the thinking about findinga job that i've been doing.
i will have a surprise for a friend in a couple of days. super secret crafting going on here in my down time. don't worry. i'll post photos.
well i think i'll pop on the headphones, listen to a little phillip pullman story time and knit on my log cabin house socks from handknit holidays!!!

so i was reading some online news and look what i found! you've got to read this its about pluto . so my question is. what happens to the rhyme that kids use to memorize the order? i mean hello! My Very Ecellent Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas... just doesn't have the same ring without the pizzas does it? oh well. so i have a proposition . no no silly no tthat kind of proposition. dave would get mad! or at least i hope he would... anyhoo. come up with your own rhyme to help kids memorize the order. the sillier the better, and the winner will get something fabulous from my stash. wow. i've never had a contest before this is kinda fun! i guess i have to figure out a way to pick the winner. hmm. ok all entries that include the beginning letter of all the currently accepted planets and usues them in order will go into a hat. not the actual people who enter. thats a big hat. but all their entries :) and a random draw shall decide ok? enter as many times as you like. and have

lots of sugar in my cappuccino please. or maybe iced. it has been a hot day... i guess as long as it is caffeinated it shouldn't really matter right? i think i deserve it! cause these babies are done! the venezia socks. or cappuccino as i call them. i used the pattern charts and just knit these up. for my second attempt at stranded color work i think they turned out great! if i had it to do over again i would probably have used a different pattern for the sole. the stripe is a little too bold for the swishiness of the instep and leg pattern. but hey. you learn. the specifics: pattern: chart from the venezia sweater by Eunny Jang yarn: sock it to me 4 ply in coffee bean and latte needles: knitpicks harmony circs size 1. socks knit as 2 magic loops simultaneously (these needles are actually growing on me) details: magic cast on 16 stitches in coffee bean, increase at edges on every row to 26 then every other row to 36 stitches. move one stitch from sole of sock(35) to inste

it's a sad day

for starbucks when a great manager resigns because he's getting too much crap from his boss. a shitton of crap from the guys upstairs and not a whole lot of help. we like to try to set our team up for success. but we don't try to set them up for failure. and that is what has been happening! i'm probably gonna hear something 'cause i'm posting this but it's got to be said. since april i've been working in the second busiest store in central florida. until recently we were beating out all the others in our district. this means we have to work hard. really hard. just to keep up. forget about getting ahead. keeping things shiny clean? no way. shoot for passable. cause you can't really do much else. there's not enough time it is impossible to stay on top. when you're understaffed. when you can't get labor hours. when you have only 2 team members in the store for 2 hours at a time! you barely get things done. and the bosse's boss. well she laid
