FO's

there are several finished objects to report!
first and foremost, dave and i graduated last friday.
technically dave has to write and defend his thesis this summer, but i think he can do it.

and i told you i'd post photos.
here's the token funny hat and dress photo.
me, dave's dad, and dave.
dave got a cooler hat than i did, i guess thats what happens with a phd :)

i've also got a couple FO's to report! here are my cousin's watermelon slippers :)

i posted a finished unfelted photo the othe rday, but here they are, all felted and ready to wear. my cousin said she was going to wear them home on the plane!
pattern: fiber trends felted clogs,
yarn: cascade 220 with a touch of leftover loft for the seeds.
changes: body and inner sole red, outer sole green, stitched on seeds before felting

what do you do

with a beautiful day off? well we went for a "scent"ic drive out to the beach. we being the dog. and me. she loves to stick her nose out the window and smell where we are going. we took a few lonely roads. ok, so maybe like 10 little roads. i make turns at random when i'm not in a hurry. and can you blame me? just check out the view! it really was spectacular. i would love to live out this way! we finally arrived at north beach in point reyes national seashore. they have a few beaches where leashed pets are allowed. i snacked on a quick lunch of tomatoes, figs, raisins, and almonds (from the farmer's market again) then we headed down to the water. my baby is 12 and she's never seen the ocean. i must be a terrible mother or something. she was just staring and staring. she couldn't get enough. after repeatedly chasing and running away from the waves for a half an hour she was content to just sit back and relax on a dune. and then she stood and told me it was ti...

it's a sad day

for starbucks when a great manager resigns because he's getting too much crap from his boss. a shitton of crap from the guys upstairs and not a whole lot of help. we like to try to set our team up for success. but we don't try to set them up for failure. and that is what has been happening! i'm probably gonna hear something 'cause i'm posting this but it's got to be said. since april i've been working in the second busiest store in central florida. until recently we were beating out all the others in our district. this means we have to work hard. really hard. just to keep up. forget about getting ahead. keeping things shiny clean? no way. shoot for passable. cause you can't really do much else. there's not enough time it is impossible to stay on top. when you're understaffed. when you can't get labor hours. when you have only 2 team members in the store for 2 hours at a time! you barely get things done. and the bosse's boss. well she laid...
