one sock down

and one to go.

here's the first sock completed. i really like the way it turned out!

except for that little hole where i turned the heel. i sewed that up as soon as i saw it in the photo.
the knitpicks is really soft and i love the way the colors turned out. who knew koolaid could be so cool?
ok. i'm sorry thats what you get for letting me knit late at night :) here's a closeup of the stitch pattern. it's much smoother without the purl rows. definately happy with the way it turned out. can't wait to make the other!

edit:
the pattern is lacy scallop socks by sock bug with several changes:
i didn't do the decreases halfway down the leg, and i just moved stitches forward to work a short row heel (instead of heel flap) on only 33 stitches. then scooted the stitches back to the front to work the foot. for the toe i did decrease rows every other row for an inch then every row until i had the same number of stitches that i had when i stopped doing short rows on the heel.
sorry does that make sense?
i'm gonna stop now. and i'll cast on for the second sock sometime before saturday i guess. we're snowboarding this weekend and i'd like to to knit in the car. that is if i can get dave to drive ;)
or maybe since i'm so far ahead i should work on shirley's mittens? hmmm. decisions.
edit
decision made i'm gonna finish shirley's mittens before i work on the second sock. i might even finish my mom's clogs too. damn all those things that come in pairs! :)

hogwarts sock swap (year 1)

yup. thats right i've sent off my swap package for hogwarts sock swap ...unfortunately via muggle post. sigh. have i ever told you how much i hate the post office? apparently the box i was recycling from starbucks wasn't good enough and i had to repack the goodies at the post office into a priortiy box at wich point they couldn't find me any tape so they made me use the priority mail tape but i couldn't tape up the box the guy did it for me so he went around the box 3 different ways. he taped my scribbled address onto the box from my notes sheet. wouldn't le tme go get alabe or anything and half the address got covered by priority mail tape but its fine...what? anyhoo. i hoep it gets where it is supposed to go. i'll be blogstalking to make sure it does :) what was in said oddly taped package you say? well... socks of course. bertie botts. plus regular and sour flavored beans. some dark chocolate for the witch or wizard with more evil tastes. cow tal...

knitting updates

ok, now for a knitting update :) i know thats what you really wanted to see. here are the contents of the sockpalOOOza package that goes out in one week. i am so excited! counterclockwise from lower left: there is a sock tote for her to use the next time she knits a pair of socks, the socks, postits. my favorite way to mark patterns, a card telling her all about her socks, a postcard of longs peak to show where i'm from, a birthday card fror her to share with a knitting friend on a special day, and stitch markers. yeay! i love presents! i can't wait to mail this! and on to current knitting... so a few weeks ago i went down to highlands ranch for the Littleton meetup, i went next door to string to do a yarn exchange. thats like free yarn you know. and picked up 7 balls of this elsabeth lavold sily wool. ooooh. wonderful yarn! i know, there are only 4 in the photo. thats because my italy cardigain is well under way. 2 balls in i just stared the third and i love love love this y...
and a last farewell...before i ripped out sunrise circle i took a parting photo...this sweater was jus tnot meant to be. too many other things wanted to be finished first. soon to come the bad penny 2 that i'm making for my trip to italy!
